絹の白生地資料館 伊と幸ギャラリー
SILK MUSEUM ITOKO GALLERY
The only museum in Japan specializing in white fabrics
In 2011, the ITOKO Gallery opened as the first museum in Japan specializing in white fabrics for kimono. About 50 kinds of white fabrics for post-dyeing (dyed kimono), which are woven with raw silk and dyed later, are carefully selected from among 200 kinds and 3,000 patterns that ITOKO has woven so far. Visitors can actually touch the white fabrics, which have various characteristics depending on the region of origin, type of yarn, and weave structure, and see their texture and beautiful luster. The museum also exhibits the amount of cocoons and raw silk required for a set of kimono, and is the only museum in Japan specializing in white fabrics, where visitors can learn about the process of producing white fabrics from sericulture to spinning and weaving, thereby disseminating the culture of silk.

絹ガラスショールーム
Silk Glass SHOWROOM
Different from Japanese paper or Yuzen, the original fabric has simple but delicate shades, and the gold and silver lamé weave a luminous shine. Because the colors are simple and not too assertive, they can be used anywhere, and the traditions and techniques that have evolved uniquely in Japan can be used to create a subtle effect in everyday spaces. We have a wide variety of silk glass samples from standard patterns to dyed and gilded ones. In addition to large size silk glass and mirror type silk glass, you can also see silk shoji screens, silk acrylics, and nest tables.
絹のワークショップ

Workshops utilizing ITOKO’s silk fabrics will be held.
